Bloomfield Township Public Library Features Historical, Cultural Programming
and Authors Marcy Heller Fisher and Jonathan Rand.
Bloomfield Township Public Library is pleased to announce its late Winter/Spring
2004 programming. Here is a list of authors who will present at BTPL:
Jack Gantos, Live @ Your Library
February 2004, To be announced
The creator of characters Rotten Ralph and Joey Pigza will be Live @ BTPL.
Recommended for preschoolers through middle-grade readers. Program sponsored
by Target Stores, Inc.
Cindy Champnella And Jacyln Champnella
Wednesday, March 10, 2004 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Cindy Champnella shares her experiences about adopting a child from China
and helping another find a home in her book The Waiting Child: How Faith and
Love of One Orphan Saved the Life of Another. Champnella will talk about its
impact on her family and others. Books will be available for signing; proceeds
will benefit the Half the Sky Foundation, which benefits children in Chinese
orphanages.

Monday, April 19, 2004 at 7:00 p.m.
Author of Fired Magic will be present a visual history of Pewabic pottery.
Books will be available for purchase and autographing. Sponsored by the Friends
of the Library.
Jonathan Rand
Tuesday, April 20, 2004 at 7:00 p.m.
Author of the popular series American Chillers and Michigan Chillers, including
the book Kreepy Klowns in Kalamazoo, will discuss reading and writing for
young people. Space is limited; tickets are available in the BTPL Youth Services
Department beginning March 22.
Along with author visits, BTPL has scheduled historical themes in its
Winter/Spring 2004 programming:
Enjoying Chamber Music with John Guinn
Sundays at 3:00 p.m.: February 15, March 7, March 14, April 18, and May 2,
2004
Noted music critic John Guinn previews the upcoming concerts of the Chamber
Music Society of Detroit. Each program introduces internationally acclaimed
artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and the music they will present. Sponsored by the
Chamber Music Society of Detroit and the Friends of the Library.
Reg Pettibone’s Authentic Native American Dance & Culture
Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 7:00 p.m.
Reg Pettibone and Ho-Chunk Pettibone present stories, music, and artifacts
from their heritage. School-aged children and their families are specially
invited to this event.
A Veteran’s Report to the Homefront, the Local History/ Local Sources
Series
Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 3:00 p.m.
WWII veteran and Bloomfield area resident Ben Snyder will share his war experiences
that have been included in the Veteran’s History Project of the Library
of Congress. Snyder will also discuss the writing of his memoirs.
